VO : Hey.
Me: Hello! Good morning.
VO: Morning! Please pass me your passport and i-20
Me : (Passed my passport and the I-20). Here you go.
VO : Why USA?
Me : I am going to pursue my Master’s on Digital Marketing(DM) from Yeshiva University, NYC.
VO: Yeshiva?
Me: Yes.
VO: How did find out this university? And why DM?
Me: I was working for (named my company) for the last couple of years as a business development manager and was looking for a futuristic course to increase my value and understanding of the Digital Marketing world. So I started looking here and there, a bit online and asked some friends about it. In short you can say I googled it. (With a bit laugh)
VO: And why Yeshiva?
Me: They were giving me the highest percentages of scholarship among the other universities I have applied for, also there was another thing that got me hooked on. They sent me a portfolio with useful stationaries in it with the offerletter and made me feel welcomed.
VO: Great. Where else did you apply?
Me: Texas Tech and Lamar University.
VO: Have you ever been to the USA or any other countries before?
Me: Haven’t been to usa yet but I have been travelling around the world for quite some times,(told him about the 10 countries I visited).
VO: Good, (showing me the UK visa) why were you there?
Me: Oh! That was just a family trip we were there for a week to enjoy the Summer Vacation.
VO: okay. I can see that after your scholarship there is this deficit (pointing at my I20), who will pay this?
Me: That will be paid by my Father as mentioned.
VO: Is he working?
Me: Yes. He is working as a Senior Engineer Officer at Biman Bangladesh Airlines for the last 25 years.
VO: Great. Has he visited outside Bangladesh?
Me: Ofcourse he visited outside. More than 25 countries and last 5 abroad trips I had, were with my whole family, apart from that (told him about other places my dad were visiting for work or vacation including the USA)
VO: Great, just give me a minute here (and the never ending minute started while he was typing and typing)…. (While looking at the monitor he kept my passport aside and was looking for something). ….. Okay, I am approving your visa. Have a safe journey.
Me: Thanks! You made my day.
It was longer than usual experiences I have read so far. It was a bit tense but Alhamdulillah! got the visa.
I came here a month ago. Started the journey as a Fall2024 student.
